Marco Ricci
A Tucson native with 20 years in the restaurant industry, Marco's vision for customizable, accessible pizza sparked the entire Mod concept.
Born from a love of great pizza and genuine hospitality, Mod Pizza has been building community one custom pie at a time since 2012.
Mod Pizza was born in the heart of Tucson in 2012 when founders Marco and Diana Ricci decided the world needed a pizza experience that put the customer completely in charge. Tired of settling for someone else's idea of a great pizza, they opened a tiny 600-square-foot kitchen on Oracle Road with one simple mission: let every guest build exactly what they love.
What started as a neighborhood secret grew by word of mouth — neighbors telling neighbors about the freshest dough, the house-made sauces, and the freedom to pile on as many toppings as your heart desired, all at one flat price. By 2015, we'd outgrown three kitchens and moved into our flagship Oracle Road location.
Today, Mod Pizza continues to serve the Tucson community with the same passion and fresh ingredients that sparked that very first oven. Every pizza is still hand-stretched, every sauce still made in-house, and every guest is still treated like family.

Every decision we make — from choosing our flour to training our team — flows from these core commitments.
To create an exceptional pizza experience by combining fresh, high-quality ingredients with genuine hospitality — empowering every guest to eat exactly the way they want, every single time.
To become the most beloved pizza destination in the Southwest by setting the standard for customization, freshness, and community impact — one neighborhood at a time.
We believe food brings people together. Our purpose is to be the gathering place where Tucson families, friends, and colleagues connect over something delicious, affordable, and made with love.
Over a decade of dough, determination, and delicious memories. Here's how we got here.

Tucson Weekly names Mod Pizza "Best New Restaurant." Demand outgrows the original kitchen — we move into our expanded Oracle Road flagship with a wood-fired oven.
We launch the Mod Gives Back program — donating 1% of every sale to local Tucson charities. Over $40,000 raised in the first year alone for youth food security initiatives.
Mod Pizza transitions to 100% compostable packaging and partners with two Arizona organic farms for our vegetable toppings. Named "Best Pizza Tucson 2019" by AZ Foodie Magazine.
Despite a challenging year, we launch our online ordering platform and curbside pickup — keeping Tucson fed while keeping our team safely employed throughout.
We celebrate serving our 30,000th unique guest and announce plans for a catering division and franchise opportunities — bringing the Mod experience to more communities across Arizona.
